Salaam Baalak Trust provides wholesome care for street children across Mumbai and Thane. Inspired by the film Salaam Bombay and created to support the real children who appeared in it, the trust began in 1989 with one centre and a small group of children. Today, it supports more than 1,100 children across eleven centres, where they receive full-time education, study support, English language instruction, computer learning, fine arts, sports, and yoga. The centres offer a safe and comfortable space along with fresh home cooked meals, healthcare, counselling, creative workshops and life skills training that prepare every child for future opportunities and a confident life ahead.
